We follow a very traditional process because it works, and have intentionally resisted adding many of the diversions that are becoming increasingly popular. A Safe Environment- The Hummingbird Ayahuasca Retreat Center provides a safe, caring environment for clients to open up and face their issues, to discuss them with others, and be able to process them in whatever method is appropriate. This helps a person deal with what comes up from their ayahuasca ceremonies. Believing it is an integral part of healing, we encourage people to feel what ever comes up as deeply and completely as they can, and assure them they will be fully supported during their emotional release, however it manifests.

Master Shaman- Manain, our shaman, has over 43 years of experience with ayahuasca and began learning this natural science at the age of 15. He is exceptionally intuitive and quickly sees to the root of a person's problem. He has the ability to cure a wide range of physical and emotional ailments, has a vast knowledge of medicinal plants, and incorporates good nutrition into all of his treatments at the Hummingbird Ayahuasca Retreat Center.

Expert Facilitators - Unlike other centers that hire facilitators, the owner Jim is the primary facilitator at the center. Since 2010 this has been his daily work and he has guided over 1300 people through the ayahuasca ceremony and healing process. His own healing and spiritual journey and vast experience with ayahuasca allow him to understand people on a deep level and help them tap into their own inner wisdom. His focus is on empowering people to trust their hearts and intuition and to know that they can be in control of their lives.

Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life - Two talks are given about how our beliefs determine our experience of life and how the programming of our subconscious mind in childhood is the source of many of our struggles. Included in these talks are techniques on how to effectively and rapidly change this programming. We learn about the incredible power of this part of our mind and how we can harness it. If we change our thoughts and beliefs, we change our experience of life. Our clients have found these talks very beneficial in understanding how they came to have the troubles in their lives and how they can change the unproductive patterns of thought and behavior.

Healing as a Process - We see healing as a process, so we provide the support for people to do this process as easily and effectively as possible. It is not just about drinking ayahuasca. It is also about what happens for a person before and after ayahuasca ceremony. Support for a person at the Hummingbird Ayahuasca Retreat Center includes:

• Lifestyle coaching to help people understand what they are going through and provide strategies to deal with it effectively and efficiently.
• Helping people to set clear intentions to maximize the outcome from healing in ceremony.
• Circle meetings each morning after ceremony where people share their ayahuasca experiences and have a chance to get feedback from the shaman about the healing going on in ceremony. This is a great opportunity for people to ask the shaman for clarification on things they experienced during ceremony. A lot of good information about how ayahuasca works is shared.
• The openness and honesty we encourage and facilitate results in a positive and supportive group dynamic where people genuinely care for each other and their healing process. Many clients have commented on how important the group support has been to their journey.
• We provide a range of natural cleansing processes such as plant baths, tobacco purges, vapor baths and mud baths to prepare the body for ceremony. Plant dietas and additional medicinal teas are prescribed as needed.
• A variety of reading material is available, both books and articles, for people during their ayahuasca retreat to help them understand and better participate in their healing process.

San Pedro - We also offer San Pedro ceremonies (aka san pedro) to help people connect to the physical world in a more harmonic way. We have found that, for many people, San Pedro has cleared certain blocks that subsequently opened up their ayahuasca ceremonies. Ayahuasca and San Pedro are very complementary and the combination has resulted in major shifts for some clients that may not have occurred with ayahuasca alone.

Price - The Hummingbird Ayahuasca Retreat Center is dedicated to keeping this magical healing tradition accessible for all who are looking for an effective alternative to western medicine. While maintaining focus on our mission of healing and providing the highest level of individual care and attention, we will always be one of the lower priced premier ayahuasca retreat centers in Iquitos and the surrounding area. The majority of centers with quality accommodations are charging $180 per day or more, while our rates are $140 per day or less, depending on whether you choose a 9-day or 12-day ayahuasca retreat.
